Pilates, inspired by yoga?

Pilates fitness system was developed by Joseph Pilates. He aim was to have strong muscles. This is mainly practised in western countries.


When i see the different postures in yoga and pilates, the one thing that arises in my mind is whether yoga and pilates are same or inspired by others?


So i just did my bit of research and found that pilates are for relaxing muscles and strengthening them, whereas yoga focuses on total flexibility of body.




Yoga focuses on controlling your body and mind through meditation. It also focuses on muscles and bones by offering various types of postures, each pose in yoga has some strong benefits like simple pranayama purifies your blood and respiratory system. Each and every pose in yoga has their own benefits, which in turn lets you have a healthy and fit body. Yoga can bring you inner peace and helps you to control your mind.


Pilates is mainly for a toned body. It helps you to strengthen your muscles. It gives you more flexibility. It mainly focuses on body strength. Pilates is mainly for people who do lot of running or similar form of exercise.


but now people incorporate both forms to get maximum benefits and stay healthy. It is upto you to choose according to your requirement, both yoga and pilates are good for our body and mind.
